Fuji-Servetto finishes Stage 3 in a bunch sprint at Andalusia
The third day of the Andalusian stage race came to another mass sprint, in which the GC experienced no changes as Posthuma (Rabobank) keeps his yellow jersey, while Del Nero (16th) is still the best rider in the GC for FUJI-SERVETTO, a team that went into the attacks with Capecchi
After the thrid day of the stagerace at the 55th Vuelta a Andalucía, the general classification did not change, with a 164-km route being raced from Vegas del Genil to Cordoba. The stage came to another bunch sprint, with Belgian Gert Steegmans (Katusha) outsprinting teammate Danilo Napolitano to claim the stage win, with all seven riders from FUJI-SERVETTO coming into the main pack. The Boys in Blue went into the attack at today’s only climb of Alto de Puerto Lope (3rd Cat.), where Italian Eros Capecchi went over the line in first place after attacking at the first slopes of the hill and coming alone through the climb banner just moments before the break of the day was formed. Javier Aramendia (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Floris Goessinen (Skil-Shimano) and Javier Ramirez Abeja (Andalucia-CajaSur) rode ahead of the peloton until the last 18 kilometers. The general classification still shows Dutchman Joost Posthuma (Rabobank) as the race leader, while Jesus del Nero (16th) is still the best rider from FUJI-SERVETTO, just before five major climbs are faced on tomorrow’s stage, on a 162-km route from Marbella to Benahavís.
