Davis and Lucero Secure their Leader Jerseys - Stage 5

Tour Down Under
Australian Allan Davis (Quick Step) is the virtual winner of the 11th Tour Down Under, after winning the fifth stage of the race. Winning the second-to-last step to the crown in Adelaide -Snapper Point – Willunga, 148 km.- allowed Davis to  claim his third victory in this year's race. Davis outsprinted Rojas (Caisse d'Epargne) in the small group that came together across today's finishing line. FUJI SERVETTO's Javier Megias was the best rider for the team for the second time. The Australian stage race is finishing tomorrow, with an urban race course in Adelaide, where the riders will take 20 laps to complete a 90-km stage.

Tour de San Luis
Meanwhile, the "Queen Stage" of the Tour de San Luis at the mountain-top finish of the Mirador del Sol (1st Category) saw a stage win by Spaniard Xavier Tondo Volpini (Andalucia). FUJI-SERVETTO rider Benat Intxausti gave the crowd some more details of quality, by finishing in tenth place. Argentina's Alfredo Lucero is still in the lead, with only two stages before the race's finale on Sunday. The first of these stages will take place in Potrero de los Funes today, with a city circuit being ridden for a 121-km route.

Hector Gonzalez gets operated in Spain
On the other side of the ocean, youngster Hector Gonzalez, who was forced to give up at the Tour de San Luis opener, is now recovering at home. The Spanish rider underwent surgery at the Perpetuo Socorro Hospital in Alicante after a fall caused him to break his right collarbone. The surgery joined the break in his shoulder and will shorten his recovery. He will be able to get on the trainer immediately.
