GIRO DELFRIULI – The promising youngster from FUJI-SERVETTO struggled and came short for the final win as part of the 30-rider group that sprinted to the victory, with Mirco Lorenzetto notching up the highest spot in a very rainy race
Eros Capecchi had another strong race, as he made it into the 30-man group which sprinted out for the final win at Wednesday’s Italian 31th Giro del Friuli, returning into the calendar after three seasons. The young rider from the squad directed by Stefano Zanini was on the move until the last kilometers, as Lampre and LPR formed a select group during the last 20 kilometres to break up the group into two smaller pelotons. Some riders reintegrated themselves into the winning cut to form a 31-rider bunch at the 3-km secutiry mark, the moment in which they chased down today’s hero, Oleksandr Kvachuk (ISD), who broke apart in the 45th kilometer. Mirco Lorenzetto (Lampre) outsprinted the rest of the field in the bunch arrival, while Capecchi came in 21st place and the rest of the FUJI-SERVETTO unit on Italian turf –Kessiakoff, Cobo, Clarke, Capelli and Shpilevsky- finished in the main peloton, a short while after the winners.
